A B.C. woman has been ordered to pay her plastic surgeon $30,000 over defamatory reviews of her breast implants procedure.
The decision released on Wednesday, August 25 from the B.C. Supreme Court Justice Gary P. Weatherill, said that Rosa Campagna Deck, who describes herself as a blogger, posted negative reviews on her website and Google Reviews of Brian Peterson, her surgeon.
"My experience with this particular surgeon was an anxiety filled nightmare," Deck wrote on her website on November 9, 2018. "Fast forward to three months post op - low & behold the itty bitty boob I traded in, for a deformed downward breast that was well over an inch higher than the other. Aka torpedo tit. Peterson told me nothing could be done until it was healed leaving me with a grotesque body part for six months."
According to the court documents, Deck was warned by Peterson that due to the composition of her chest, she should consider using implants of different sizes so that the overall result would be symmetrical.
Deck apparently decided on two identical implants, which Peterson then used for the surgery. This resulted in her right breast being lower than the left.
Ultimately, Weatherill decided the reviews constituted defamation and said that Deck must pay Peterson $30,000 as well as take down all of her posts about him, with the promise of not reposting them.
