Doug Ford has officially announced that COVID-19 vaccination certificates will be coming to the province this month.
In a press conference on Wednesday, the premier revealed that starting on September 22, residents will need to show proof of vaccination to access some non-essential businesses, including movie theatres, indoor restaurants, gyms, concerts, casinos and more.
However, the certificate will not be required for outdoor dining or essential services such as medical care and grocery stores.
Starting on September 22, residents will be asked to show their proof of a COVID-19 vaccine, as well as a piece of government ID to be let into these locations.
However, the government also expects to have an app by the end of October, which will allow businesses to scan the QR code for each resident.
"Based on the latest evidence and best advice, COVID-19 vaccine certificates give us the best chance to slow the spread of this virus while helping us to avoid further lockdowns. If you haven't received your first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, please do so today," Ford stated.
Vaccination certificates will not apply to those who are 11 or younger or anyone who has a medical exemption.
