An unfortunate incident occurred in Ajax on Monday after a shooting injured six people.

A shooting took place on Harwood Avenue in Ajax on Monday at 1:20 a.m., according to Durham Regional Police (DRP).

The police identified six shooting victims, which left one with "life threatening injuries."

The shooting occurred on 154 Harwood Avenue, at the back of a restaurant.

Police told Narcity that the victims identified are six adults, three of which are male and the other three female.

DRP also said that "the shooting took place behind an establishment where a barbecue function was taking place," at the time of the incident.

The investigators are looking for witnesses to come forward and share information about what had happened.

"Our investigators from West Division are looking for any witnesses or dash cam video to come forward," they added.

At 5:06 a.m., the Durham Regional Police tweeted that the forensic investigators were on the scene gathering evidence on the shooting.

Apparently, the suspect fled in a car from the scene, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

They described the car as a "black coloured four door," which it is the only information they have on the suspect vehicle.

The police did not confirm how many suspects were involved in the incident.

At the time of publication, they told Narcity that "forensic investigators' are on scene collecting evidence."
