Canada is frequently cited as a country where citizens can enjoy a high quality of life, but where in the country can you get the best of the best?

A new ranking has determined the best places to live in Canada that offer the greatest quality of life based on safety, affordability, job opportunities, quality of healthcare and several other factors.

The findings include six cities and charming small towns across the country that may entice you to call them home.

The ranking was compiled by moving company MovingWaldo. To determine the best places to live in Canada, the company looked at three criteria: safety, affordability and quality of life.

More specifically, to rank a location's quality of life, factors including the quality of education, quality of healthcare, feeling of safety, public transportation, environment, and availability of recreational facilities and parks were considered.

Taking the number one spot in the ranking as the best place to live in Canada was Wellington County, Ontario.

Located in southwestern Ontario and part of the Golden Horseshoe, Wellington County is actually made up of several small towns including Erin, Minto, Fergus and Elora.

According to MovingWaldo, Wellington ranked highly because it excelled in all three categories, offering low crime, a low unemployment rate, and high quality of life, with access to a variety of parks and green spaces, like Elora Gorge and Victoria Park, as well as easy accessibility to Brampton, Mississauga, Kitchener, and downtown Toronto.

Just behind Wellington County, Oak Bay in B.C. was ranked as the second-best place to live in Canada.

Located in the Greater Victoria Area on Vancouver Island, Oak Bay is known for its many beaches and parks, and its stunning views overlooking the Oak Bay Islands Ecological Reserve.

The area is home to traditional gardens, Edwardian architecture, many schools, a spectacular shoreline, and low crime, all attributing to its high position on the list.

Rounding out the top three best places to live in Canada is LaSalle, Ontario.

The small town located in Essex County offers residents over 40 kilometres of paved biking trails and over 100 acres of parkland to enjoy, and also hosts night markets featuring music, vendors and food in the summer.
