Apple iPhone class action lawsuit is paying out in Canada and here's how to get money

The Apple iPhone class action lawsuit in Canada is paying out up to $14 million!

Now that the settlement has been approved, you can submit a claim to get money from this class action lawsuit if you had certain iPhone devices.

Class actions were filed against Apple in B.C., Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta back in 2018.

The iPhone power management class action that's now settled is related to allegations of:

  • performance mitigation features of iOS versions 10.2.1, 10.3, 11 and/or 11.2 for iPhones
  • defects causing iPhones to prematurely age, degrade and shut down unexpectedly
  • defects in the performance of iPhone batteries
  • misrepresentations or intentional concealment of the above

If you owned and/or purchased an Apple iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 or 7 Plus with iOS 10.2.1 and/or iOS 11.2 or later installed or downloaded before December 21, 2017, you could be eligible for a payment.

The iPhone class action settlement was approved by the court on March 4, 2024.

Apple has agreed to pay between $11,137,500 and $14,427,500 to Canadian class members.

However, Apple denies the allegations of this class action and the settlement isn't an admission of liability, wrongdoing or fault.

Apple will provide a cash payment to each class member whose claim is approved.

It's expected that approved claim payouts could go up to a maximum of $150 per device.

If you want to get a cash payment from this iPhone class action in Canada, you need to submit a claim form for each device.

The Apple lawsuit claim form requires you to provide details including your name, mailing address, iPhone serial number and a declaration under oath that:

  • your iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, or SE iPhone ran iOS 10.2.1 or later or your iPhone 7 and 7 Plus ran iOS 11.2 or later before December 21, 2017
  • you experienced diminished performance on that device after the iOS was installed or downloaded

To find out if your iPhone is an eligible device, you can use an online tool to look up and verify the serial number.

You need to submit a claim by the deadline — September 2, 2024 — to get money from the Apple iPhone class action lawsuit in Canada.
