Grocery stores
Loblaws, No Frills & Your Independent Grocer: Most locations will be closed, with a select few open:
- Loblaws, 363 Rideau St. — open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Loblaws, 64 Isabella St. — open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- No Frills, 1226 Place D'Orleans Dr. — open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- No Frills, 30 Iber Rd., Stittsville — open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Your Independent Grocer, 753 Notre-Dame St., Embrun — open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Farm Boy: Most Farm Boy locations are closed for the holiday, except for the one in the Rideau Centre:
- 50 Rideau St. — open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Walmart: While all Walmarts in Ottawa proper are closed on Canada Day, one location in Smiths Falls will be open:
- 114 Lombard St., Smiths Falls — open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Whole Foods: Ottawa's Whole Foods location at 951 Bank St. (in Lansdowne Park) will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Costco: All Costco locations in Ottawa and Gatineau are closed on Canada Day.
Metro & Food Basics: All locations in Ottawa are closed.
Sobeys & FreshCo: All locations in Ottawa are closed.
Liquor stores
The Beer Store: The following Beer Store locations will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Canada Day:

- 1984 Baseline Rd.
- 548 Montreal Rd.
- 515 Somerset St. W.
- 3500 Fallowfield Rd.
- 499 Terry Fox Dr.
- 2018 Ogilvie Rd.
- 2276 Tenth Line Rd.
- 575 McNeely Ave., Carleton Place
- 75 Lombard St., Smiths Falls
LCBO: All locations closed.
SAQ: If you're willing to drive across the border to Quebec, all SAQ locations in Gatineau will be open on Canada Day. Most are open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., except for the following two, which will remain open until 10 p.m.:
- 25 Ch. de la Savane, Gatineau
- 425 Boul. Saint-Joseph, Gatineau
Shopping malls
Two shopping malls in Ottawa will be open on Canada Day:
- Rideau Centre — open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tanger Outlets — open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Things to do
Beaches & pools: All city-run beaches and pools will be open, although some pools have reduced hours. Swimming at the city's three beaches — Mooney's Bay, Britannia and Petrie Island — will be supervised from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Museums: The following museums are open and offering free admission on Canada Day (although some still require you to reserve your tickets in advance):
- Canadian Museum of Nature — open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Canada Agriculture and Food Museum — open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Canada Science and Technology Museum — open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Canada Aviation and Space Museum — open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Canadian War Museum — open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- National Gallery of Canada — open 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Canadian Museum of History — open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Libraries: All city libraries are closed on Canada Day.
Services
OC Transpo: Ottawa's transit system will be running on an "enhanced Sunday schedule with extra service on busy routes throughout the day and into the evening." The O-Train will run from 6 a.m. until 2 a.m.
Service will be free on all OC Transpo buses, O-Train Line 1 and Para Transpo all day Canada Day until 4 a.m. on July 2, giving you plenty of time to get home safely from any late-night parties.
Canada Post: Canada Post is closed on national, provincial and territorial holidays with no collection or delivery of mail. However, some post offices housed inside private businesses may be open.
Banks: Typically, bank branches are closed on Canada Day. However, you can still withdraw cash from ATMs and access your accounts, pay bills and more with online banking on the stat holiday.
Waste collection: There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Canada Day, and pick-up will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
