This massive Ontario waterfall is a majestic, less-crowded version of Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is one of Ontario's most iconic natural wonders. With its powerful cascade, stunning views and plethora of attractions, it's no surprise that millions of visitors flock to this landmark every year.

Due to its popularity, Niagara Falls can draw large crowds, especially during the warmer months. If you're looking for a quieter alternative, you may want to head to this breathtaking Ontario waterfall instead.

Flight Centre Canada recently revealed a list of "local travel dupes" for popular Canadian destinations, where you can still enjoy beautiful views "without the crowds and high prices."

Instead of Niagara Falls, Flight Centre Canada suggests visiting Kakabeka Falls, which is "a quieter – but no less majestic" cascade.

The waterfall, located outside of Thunder Bay, is the second-highest in Ontario and is known as the "Niagara of the North," according to Destination Ontario.

The 40-metre cascade tumbles into a gorge with ancient fossils located at the bottom. You can follow the 750 metre Boardwalk Trail around the natural wonder and enjoy incredible views from the lookout platforms.

There are several other hikes you can take around Kakabeka Falls, including Little Falls Trail, which takes you into the river valley and past Little Falls.

During the winter, Kakabeka Falls transforms into an icy spectacle that looks like something out of Frozen.

If you're looking for a gorgeous alternative to Niagara Falls, it might be worth taking a trip to this magnificent cascade.
