This dreamy Ontario beach town is known as 'Florida North' and has 20 acres of silky shores

You don't need to hop on a plane to experience a taste of Florida. Ontario has its own version of this tropical destination, and it's a white sand paradise.

With endless acres of silky shoreline, sparkling waters and beachy vibes, it's a beautiful spot for a summer escape, no pricey flight needed.

Grand Bend is a picturesque destination located along the shores of Lake Huron, about 3 hours from Toronto.

It's known as "one of Canada's best beach towns," according to Ontario's Southwest, and has been awarded Blue Flag status for its water quality and safety criteria.

The region has also been referred to as "Florida North," and with its sun-kissed beaches and coastal charm, it's easy to see why.

The Main Beach boasts 20 acres of velvety sand where you can lounge under an umbrella and gaze across the sparkling waves.

The beach vibes continue at the nearby Pinery Provincial Park, where you can find an additional 10 kilometres of sandy shores, rolling dunes and beautiful hikes.

The town has quaint local shops, beachside restaurants, bars and a vibrant nightlife scene.

You'll want to stay late to catch one of the region's "famous" sunsets, which colour the sky and water below with stunning hues.

There are several beach motels and boutique inns where you can book a longer getaway, such as The Kiwi Motel.

With gorgeous shores and Florida vibes, Grand Bend is a gorgeous summer destination to explore right here in Ontario.
