Canada Is Banning All Flights From Morocco As More & More Travellers Test Positive

A new Morocco flight ban by Canada has been issued as travellers from the country keep testing positive for COVID-19.

Transport Canada announced that all direct commercial and private passenger flights to Canada from Morocco are banned from August 29, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. ET until September 29, 2021, at 12 a.m. ET.

The restrictions are based on advice from the Public Health Agency of Canada after an increase in positive test results from passengers arriving in Canada from Morocco was observed over the past month, Transport Canada said.

Along with the direct flight ban, travellers who depart from Morocco and fly to Canada through an indirect route will be required to get a valid COVID-19 pre-departure test from a third country – other than Morocco – before they can come here. This third-country testing rule also comes into effect on August 29, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. ET.

Canada is planning to let in fully vaccinated international travellers for non-essential reasons starting on September 7, 2021, which is before the ban on flights from Morocco ends.
