After the OnlyFans ban on sexually explicit content was reversed, Narcity spoke with Quebec creator Hélène Boudreau about her feelings on the controversy, why she thinks the decision was changed and how it could have affected her income.
Earlier this year, Boudreau rose to fame after she shared her Université du Québec à Montréal graduation photo, in which she shows her breasts — a move that led to the university suing her. The number of OnlyFans subscribers she had skyrocketed after the viral incident.
"I was very shocked that they were banning porn because that's what made them known and what made them rich. They made a lot of money with us," Boudreau told Narcity Québec about the initial ban by OnlyFans announced on August 19.
She said she cried, had panic attacks and was anxious because of what happened.
"We tried to work, but we couldn't because we knew our job was going to be lost," Boudreau revealed.
After the decision was reversed on August 25, she said creators "really feel used" and like they're being laughed at by the company. She thinks OnlyFans realized that they did something wrong when they saw creators talking about leaving or going to other platforms.
Boudreau said that what she makes on OnlyFans represents 95% of her monthly income. Earlier this year, she also told Narcity Québec that she expects to earn a seven-figure salary from the site by the end of the year.
