Frosh week is a time-honoured passage for university students to make friends and get a little wild on campus.
Last year, many university students attended their respective orientations online due to COVID-19, but this year the rules have changed.
Here's how four Ontario universities are handling orientation this fall.
Ryerson University
When: August 23 to September 6
Where: Virtual and in-person
Who Can Attend: First- and second-year Ryerson university students
What's On The Agenda: Ryerson's orientation week has over 200 events, from on-campus tours and in-person paint events to virtual karaoke and other online events.
Western University
When: September 6 to September 12
Where: Virtual and in-person
Who Can Attend: First-year Western students with an OPass
What's On The Agenda: Oweek at Western will be online and in-person for a week full of exclusive events, and this year, Western promises "to raise that bar even higher." They will also be hosting a three-day event series for second-year students.
University of Toronto
When: August 17 to October 29
Where: Online and in-person
Who Can Attend: First-year university students.
What's On The Agenda: The University of Toronto will have in-person "Ask Me" booths set up at the St. George campus until September 30 and a variety of virtual events for students to attend. Program-specific events may also be available for students.
Queens University
When August 30 to September 6
Where: Virtual and in-person
Who: First-year students at Queens University.
What's On The Agenda: From virtual karaoke nights to in-person Kingston scavenger hunts, Queens seems to have a lot of great activities planned. Their non-scheduled events also include a food tour of Kingston where students can redeem three free food items from local restaurants, a paddle around Lake Ontario in a kayak or paddleboard, and more. The university says that, while they are busy planning in-person events, they are still waiting for the Faculty of Health Sciences to provide further guidance.
