Police Have ID'd The Person Reportedly Found Dead Inside A Suitcase In Toronto

The Toronto Police have now identified the person who was found dead in the York area on Wednesday morning.

On August 25, at 10:41 a.m., police responded to a call regarding a "suspicious incident" near Keele Street and Hillary Avenue, the Toronto Police Service confirmed in a news release.

According to the release, officers located the body of a dead woman and the Homicide Unit has now taken over the investigation.

Investigators told CP24 that the body was found stuffed in a suitcase and had obvious signs of trauma.

Police have now identified the victim as Varsha Gajula, a 41-year-old woman from Caledon, Ontario.

"This is an active investigation and police remain in the area carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances of the occurrence," police said in the release on Friday.

Anyone who may have seen or have heard from Gajula, or witnessed anything suspicious is asked to contact homicide detectives.
