Toronto Power Outage Is Affecting Thousands After A Car Crashed Into A Hydro Pole

A Toronto power outage has left thousands without power after a vehicle swerved into a hydro pole on Tuesday morning.

According to TPS, the collision occurred in the areas of Victoria Park Avenue and Gerrard Street East at around 9:00 a.m. after a driver struck a pedestrian before slamming into a nearby pole.

Police were advising residents who normally travel through the intersection to take an alternative route.

CTV reported that the accident resulted in a woman in her 60s being rushed to hospital with serious head injuries and 3,000 residents losing power, which will be restored to the area by 3:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Toronto Hydro reported in an update that crews are on-site making emergency repairs and attempting to restore power.

"We're working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power," an excerpt from their statement reads. The company says they have already been able to restore power to some of those who were affected.
