Alberta’s New Vaccine Incentive Offers Residents Money Per Dose If They’re Still Unvaxxed

Health officials in Alberta are officially launching a vaccine incentive for residents over 18, so get ready to make some quick money if you have yet to get your dose.

During a press conference on September 3, Alberta's Minister of Health Tyler Shandro announced that a one-time incentive of $100 will be given out to Albertans 18 and over who receive a first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine between September 3 and October 14.

"Vaccines are safe, effective, and a game-changer. This is why the current wave is different than what we've experienced before. While we do not need to return to the same widespread and dramatic measures we had in place earlier in the pandemic, unvaccinated Albertans in particular are still at risk and are placing a heavy load on our health-care system. This is why we are taking measured steps and introducing a new incentive program to encourage more Albertans to get the jab," Shandro said in a press release.

Once vaccinated, eligible Albertans will be able to register online for a pre-filled debit card and Alberta Health will then validate the registrations using provincial immunization data.

According to officials, the website will launch on September 13. Anyone who does not have access to a computer can contact 310-0000, starting that same day.
