Missing Toronto Man's Remains Were Just Found In A Landfill

The remains of a missing Toronto man have been found following a several weeks long homicide investigation in Southwold, Ontario.

According to a news release issued by Toronto Police Thursday, investigators located the remains of 57-year-old Nathaniel Brettell at the Green Lane Landfill on Thursday, August 26, 2021, after weeks of searching the waste management site.

"The excavation involved multiple units from across the Service including Homicide, Police Dogs, Emergency Management and Public Order, and the Public Safety Unit," an excerpt from the report reads.

Brettell had last been seen at his residence in the Westona Street and Dixon Road area, on Thursday, January 21, 2021.

The victim had been presumed dead since spring after police arrested 34-year-old Ahmed Al-Farkh on May 12, 2021 and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with Brettel's disappearance.
