Rogers & Bell Are Apparently Increasing Prices Of Phone & Internet Plans In Canada

Both Rogers and Bell are apparently increasing the prices of some phone and internet plans in Canada.

That means you could soon be paying more money every month for your phone and internet bills with these Canadian telecom companies.

If you have plans with Rogers or Bell, here's what you need to know about price hikes that are coming into effect.

The Rogers price hike will impact some customers who have wireless phone plans and internet plans with the Canadian telecom company, according to CBC News.

Rogers shared with Narcity that changes to the cost of plans will only be applied to Rogers customers who are not on contract which includes wireless and residential customers.

Also, Fido customers who are not on contract will be affected by the increase.

Exactly how much prices will increase depends on the specific plan or bundle a customer has but a Rogers spokesperson revealed to Narcity that the hike will be less than $7 to $9 for many customers.

"Customers who are on a term contract will not experience a change to their base monthly service fee for the duration of their contract," a Rogers spokesperson said in a statement to Narcity.

Also, Rogers posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that price increases "wouldn't affect all plans."

If your plan is affected and the cost is going up, you will "receive a bill notification advising you of the increase."

Wireless customers who have been notified about the increase will see the new price of their plans reflected on the first bill after January 17, 2024, a Rogers spokesperson told Narcity.

Bell Canada customers shared with MobileSyrup that they were also told about price hikes on their bills coming into effect soon.

Some Bell Mobility customers in Canada were notified by email that their plan rates would go up by $6 a month starting in February.

This price increase is because Bell is "continuously investing to provide world-class services, reliable connections and to support the rapidly increasing network demand," according to the email received by customers.

Also, Bell customers shared that received notice of the price increase on their most recent bills, not by email.

Someone posted on X that this notice said the price of their monthly rate plan would go up by $6 a month starting on the February 2024 bill.

Narcity has reached out to Bell for more information about price increases to the telecom company's plans.
