The total solar eclipse in Canada is just weeks away, and there's still time to sort out your viewing plans ahead of the event.
If you're in Toronto, unfortunately, you won't be able to see the total eclipse — the moon will cover the sun by about 99 percent in the city, making for a partial eclipse.
However, you don't need to go far to experience totality. About 1 hour away, you can watch the total solar eclipse and even enjoy free Tim Hortons coffee and eclipse glasses to boot.
Tim Hortons has announced that it will be serving free coffee at a solar eclipse viewing event not far from Toronto.
The public can head to the Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton to enjoy free Dark Roast coffee from the Canadian chain as they take in the once-in-a-lifetime celestial event.
Hamilton is one of a few larger cities in Ontario in the path of totality, where the moon will block out the sun completely, revealing the sun's corona.
Tim Hortons Field is one of several designated viewing locations in the city where the public can catch the eclipse. Other places to watch the show include Bayfront Park, Confederation Beach Park, and Hamilton's conversation areas, which will remain open for regular entry on April 8, with pre-registration not required.
The field will make for a great spot to view the eclipse. The eclipse will begin in Hamilton starting at 2:03 p.m., with totality occurring between 3:18 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. The partial solar eclipse will then end at 4:31 p.m.
Tickets are required to attend the event and include a free pair of solar eclipse glasses that will be handed out to all ticket holders upon entry, according to Tourism Hamilton.
The free tickets are available online now on a first-come, first-served basis.
If you can't make it to Hamilton, there are plenty of other locations around Toronto where you can experience totality during the eclipse.
It'll be a while until the next total solar eclipse over Canada, so don't miss your chance to see it!
