IKEA Canada Issued A USB Charger Recall & You Can Get A Full Refund Without A Receipt

IKEA Canada is asking customers to stop using one of their chargers after it was found to be hazardous.

A press release was issued on Wednesday morning urging IKEA customers to return the product as soon as possible and receive a refund in exchange.

Why you should care: The IKEA product categorized as "Ã…SKSTORM 40W USB charger dark grey, article number 80461200" was recalled on Wednesday due to "thermal burn and electric shock hazard."

If you have the product, you should stop using it and take it to IKEA for a refund.

What they're saying: "IKEA develops its products using a rigorous risk assessment and testing program, to make sure that the products live up to all applicable laws and standards on the markets where they are sold," the company said in the release.

"Despite this, it has come to the company's attention that the power cable on the Ã…SKSTORM 40W USB charger dark grey may get damaged or broken, after being wrapped around a charger or bent back and forth after a longer period of use," IKEA added. This wear and tear might then lead to "thermal burns and electric shock."

"IKEA apologizes for any inconvenience this recall may cause," the company added.

ICYMI: If you have purchased a Ã…SKSTORM 40W USB charger from IKEA, check the model number on the back of the label and if it matches the following, "ICPSW5-40-1" stop its usage immediately.

If you do have the recalled product, then you can take it to any IKEA store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
