The 2021 election has been in full swing for a while now, but this week marks a particularly exciting moment in the 36-day campaign — the first English edition of the federal leaders' debate.
The first debate — in French — was on Thursday, September 2, and the first English-language debate is on Thursday, September 9, and it's very easy to figure out how to watch in Canada. Whether you have cable or not, you can tune in and watch sparks fly as the leaders of Canada's major parties go head to head.
The September 9 debate will feature Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau, Conservative Party leader Erin O'Toole, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, Green Party leader Annamie Paul and Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet.
The debate will be broadcast in over a dozen languages by a group of broadcast companies, beginning at 9 p.m. ET and running until 11 p.m. ET. There are five topics — affordability, climate, COVID recovery, leadership and accountability, and reconciliation — and includes question and answer sections, leader-to-leader debate and open debate.
