The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned Atlantic Canada about "life-threatening" conditions posed by Hurricane Larry as it sweeps its way up the east coast.
According to an advisory issued by the NHC on September 7, Hurricane Larry could bring "significant swells" which can turn into dangerous surf and rip current conditions.
"Beachgoers and other interests are urged to follow the guidance of lifeguards and local officials this week," the NHC reported.
Hurricane Larry's oceanic effects could be felt in Atlantic Canada by midweek, the NHC warned, and continue to affect the area until the end of the week.
According to predictions from the Environment Canada, St. John's, Newfoundland, is in the direct path of the hurricane's current expected course. A Tropical Cyclone Statement has been issued for residents on the eastern tip of the province, and locals are being asked to stay tuned to updated forecasts in case the storm gets stronger.
