Erin O'Toole Promises Canadians A 50% Rebate On Meals At Restaurants If He’s Elected

The federal election is almost upon us, and Erin O'Toole has just released a proposed program to help the hospitality industry and give back to Canadians.

On Wednesday, September 8, the Conservative leader announced that he'd introduce the Dine and Discover Program if he were to be elected. The program would give customers a 50% rebate for dining at restaurants, within certain parameters.

"For one month, we will give Canadians a 50% rebate for any food and non-alcoholic drinks purchased for dine-in meals from Monday To Wednesday," O'Toole said in a video posted to Instagram. "This will pump almost $1 billion into our hard-hit hospitality sector."

This isn't the first policy O'Toole has introduced in the past months to incentivize people to vote for him.

In August, he promised that he would scrap GST for the whole month of December "to provide immediate relief for the cost of living."
