A Goderich man is being praised for heroically saving a 7-year-old girl over the weekend after a family outing took a terrifying turn.
According to Huron County OPP, officers received an emergency call about a girl being blown away from shore on an inflatable toy at around 10:05 a.m. at Rotary Cove Beach.
"The child was unable to get to shore on her own and the family members she was with were not strong enough swimmers to bring her back in," an excerpt from the police report reads.
Thankfully, a 20-year-old man who was out for a walk immediately realized what was happening and leapt into action.
Police said he was able to reach the girl within moments and tow her safely back to shore.
